Welcome students, prospective students, and guests. Spring 2010 students: Your Syllabus will be added soon. (Text book will be the same, CD/resource GEODe is required for Spring 2010)

This is your class website, here you will find information to help you get started as well as information for contacting your instructor.  It also contains your class syllabus.  You will find all the links here that you may need throughout the course.  Students will be automatically signed up at the Moodle site in January.  The Moodle site is where you will receive your assignments, turn in your work, and take your tests.  You can look around at Moodle as a guest.  I am your instructor,  Jaime Marso, and I welcome your questions and comments.   Students with disabilities, including learning disabilities, please contact me regarding any special needs.

How do I get started?   Purchase your text book and review your syllabus for assignments.  Follow the directions at Moodle and on your class syllabus AND attend the MANDATORY orientation online

How to Get Logged into Moodle:

  • To access courses on the Moodle website, you must already be enrolled in the course through the Peralta District PASSPORT System at http://passport.peralta.edu. Then you go to:http://www.eperalta.org/spring2010/ .  Log in and your classes should appear under "My Courses".  This course is called: GEOL-10-A1-23166-Marso
  • To login to the Moodle website, please use this information:
    • Username = your PASSPORT Username
    • Password = your Student ID # - this is an 8-digit number you can find on your fee payment receipt or by clicking on Demographic Data in your PASSPORT Student Center.
  • For example, a student named Homer Simpson with a student id# of 12345678 will login using:
    • Example Username: hosi5678
    • Example Password: 12345678

How do I get out of this class? It is the students responsibility to drop classes.  Check the current Academic Calendar for drop dates.  Contact the instructor via email to see if you have already been dropped.

Geology 10, Spring 2010 College of Alameda Online

Section #23166: This is an online course that will require a mandatory on campus final exam AND a mandatory orientation online: January 25th at 8pm.  http://gomyclass.com/orientation.html

Content: Geology means "the study of Earth." Two broad areas of the science of geology are (1) physical geology, which examines the materials composing Earth and the processes that operate beneath and upon its surface; and (2) historical geology, which seeks to understand the origin of Earth and its development through time. This course covers both areas.

First day of class: is January 21, 2010, Mandatory orientation is: Monday,January 25, 2010 8pm Online Orientation

Field trips: TBA - Mandatory field trips 10% of your grade
